Teacher of the Month

Mary Ann Thibodeau has been an ardent practitioner and teacher of Yoga for over 35 years. Meeting her teacher, Yogacharya J. Oliver Black, in 1974 she has faithfully followed his instructions since. She has been a certified Golden Lotus Yoga Teacher since 1976. Mary Ann is currently the treasurer of the Golden Lotus Yoga Teachers Association. She teaches classes at the Grosse Pointe Woods Community Center which have been ongoing for over 15 years. Mary Ann is YogaEd certified and has taught after school classes to middle school students where she works. She has also taught Pre Natal Yoga. Recently Mary Ann has started offering 3 Hour Retreats quarterly at the Valade Healing Arts Center of the St. John Hospital & Medical Center in Grosse Pointe Farms.

Over the years she has introduced many new students to the path of Yoga, meditation, Self Realizaton Fellowship, Golden Lotus, and Song of the Morning Ranch.

Mary Ann was married to her husband Roy by her teacher, Yogacharya J. Oliver Black, in 1976 at Song of the Morning Ranch. Together they raised 3 children and have one grand daughter. She graduated from Central Michigan University with further study through Oakland University. Her teaching career started in Gaylord, Michigan and she continues to work in the Grosse Pointe Public Schools, teaching children with autism at the middle school level.
